Kicillof criticized Javier Milei after the LLA's defeat in the elections: "He said he was going to paint the province purple, but it seems he didn't have enough paint."

Following Fuerza Patria's victory in the Buenos Aires elections, Governor Axel Kicillof maintained that the candidate for La Libertad Avanza (LLA) "was Javier Milei" and questioned the President for his statements during the campaign. "He said 'Freedom is sweeping, we're going to paint the Province purple,' it seems there was no paint or there was a shortage," he remarked in a teasing tone.
He also emphasized that "the province was blue" and criticized Karina Milei's role in the national government.
"The President put all his chips on the province of Buenos Aires, he went to provoke, defunded, and then expected to win ," the president said in statements to C5N , where he also emphasized that "it's been 20 years since Peronism won a midterm election, when it was said it was a technical tie."
In the same vein, the head of the Buenos Aires City Executive focused on the dimensions of the electoral process that took place this Sunday, given the importance attributed to it by the LLA leader.
"He just lost massively in an election that he said was a plebiscite. He got involved in the campaign, and held three events in the PBA, one more unsuccessful than the other," he said.
The result, he assessed, was a result of the ruling party managing to bring together on a single ballot " Sergio (Massa), Cristina (Kirchner), and the mayors who were supporting them." The other factor he mentioned was that there was "a lot of turnout, against all odds." "The percentage was a shock for Milei," he observed, referring to the 47% that Fuerza Patria received, compared to 33.8% for LLA.
For Kicillof, there was also "an element of anger" on the part of the electorate stemming from the economic policies and the conflicts facing the national administration.
" This government has become unvotable , even for those who wouldn't vote for Peronism. It has become unvotable, not only because of the audio recordings, because of the 3%, but because of the economic consequences. I would even say because of the attack on democracy, the violence they wield, the insults," he listed.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Right to a Future Movement (MDF) also noted that the victory in this election consolidated the Peronist coalition heading into the national legislative elections in October.
"Beyond Peronism and the province, the government received a shock, and we got Milei to say that they were wrong and that they need to rectify," he analyzed, referring to the President's message on Sunday and the call for dialogue announced this Monday.
On the other hand, Kicillof referred to the centrality of the president's sister in the government despite the fact that she wasn't elected by the public. He estimated that, for those who voted for LLA, she could be "just another scam." "Karina seems to be the one in charge, but who voted for Karina?" he asked about the secretary general of the presidency.
"I don't know her, I don't have anything special to say, but I'm talking about that, that the President was voted in to decide, that he has to make decisions and change the direction of the Government," he concluded.
